Bella Patina: Kansas City, MO

Year:

1900

Bella Patina is an antique store in Kansas City's West Bottoms neighborhood. It occupies part of a building constructed in 1900 for the Demster Mill Manufacturing Company and designed by noted architect Adriance Van Brunt. From their headquarters in Beatrice, Nebraska, the Demster Mill Manufacturing Company made a variety of products needed by Plains farmers, particularly windmill systems, but also everything from cultivators to kitchen sinks. The Kansas City location likely provided warehouse space for goods being shipped to distant markets. Later the building housed the Kansas City Bolt, Nut & Screw Company. Today the building houses antique and furniture stores as well as offices for small businesses.
